Artist Residency:
Experiencing Lubhu
Dream Project
About Artist in Residency
Background
Lubhu, nestled in the picturesque Kathmandu Valley, is renowned for its scenic beauty, rich cultural heritage, and warm hospitality. Despite its natural allure and cultural significance, Lubhu remains relatively undiscovered by the global arts community. By establishing an artist residency program in this vibrant locale, we seek to unlock its potential as a hub for creative exploration and cultural exchange.
Objectives
-
Provide international artists with a transformative experience, immersing them in the local culture, traditions, and landscape of Lubhu.
-
Stimulate economic growth and sustainability in Lubhu by leveraging the residency program to attract cultural tourists and support local businesses.
-
Forge meaningful connections between international artists and the Lubhu community, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration.
-
Showcase Lubhu's cultural and natural heritage through the artworks produced during the residency, enhancing its visibility and appeal to domestic and international visitors.
Program Structure
The residency program will offer accommodation, studio space, access to local resources, and logistical support to participating artists. The program duration will range for 12 days, with 8 - 10 artists accommodated at a time. Artists will be encouraged to explore themes relevant to Lubhu's cultural identity, environment, and community life. Additionally, they will have opportunities to engage with local artisans, participate in cultural festivals, and contribute to community development projects.
Selection Process
Applications for the residency program will be solicited through an open call, targeting artists from diverse cultural backgrounds and artistic disciplines. A selection committee comprising representatives from the local community, arts organizations, and tourism sector will review applications and select participants based on artistic merit, project relevance, and potential to contribute to the goals of the residency program.
Evaluation and Impact
Regular evaluations will be conducted to assess the residency program's effectiveness in achieving its objectives and delivering value to participants and the Lubhu community. Key performance indicators will include artist feedback, artwork quality, visitor attendance at exhibitions and events, media coverage, and economic indicators such as tourism revenue and local business growth.
Remaining Materials
All remaining materials will be carefully preserved for future residency programs, ensuring their longevity and utility. Items such as mattresses, pillows, and rugs will be stored for future use, meticulously maintained to ensure their quality for annual or more frequent residencies. Documentation of our activities and experiences will serve as a dynamic promotional tool, disseminated through social media channels and other platforms to showcase Lubhu and its offerings, thereby enhancing its visibility and appeal.
Store or Shop
All materials will be sourced exclusively from local businesses in Lubhu, fostering community support and sustainability. Pillows and rugs, among other items, will be procured directly from nearby factories, thereby contributing to the local economy and promoting the craftsmanship of our region. By prioritizing local suppliers, we not only ensure the authenticity and quality of our materials but also actively participate in the growth and development of the community.
Long term benefit for the sponsor
The long-term benefits for sponsors of residency programs can include enhanced brand visibility and recognition, increased customer loyalty and engagement, networking opportunities, and alignment with their corporate social responsibility goals. By supporting residency programs, sponsors demonstrate their commitment to fostering creativity, innovation, and community development, which can positively impact their reputation and relationships with stakeholders. Additionally, sponsors may gain access to a pool of talented individuals or creative projects emerging from the residency, potentially leading to future collaborations or business opportunities. Overall, sponsoring residency programs can yield lasting positive effects on a sponsor's brand image and bottom line.
